Acknowledging that 2018 was a “very painful” season, Claire Williams is convinced Williams have the right tools in place for a recovery.
Last season Williams slumped to bottom of the table, scoring just seven points in 21 grands prix.
It was a disastrous season for the Grove team as none of the updates they introduced for the FW41 heralded an improvement.
The season ended with the team saying goodbye to title sponsor Martini as well as both drivers, Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin.
On Monday Williams announced a new title sponsor in telecommunications company ROKiT, with the team sporting a new livery to go with a new era.
And it is one that deputy team boss Williams hopes will herald a recovery.
“Last season was very tough for us,” GPBlog.com quoted her as having said during the livery launch.
“It is very painful for every team to be in our situation.
“However, nobody left our team during the winter and that says something about how strong Williams is as a team.
“None of us wants to relive 2018.
“Our goal is therefore also to make progress.
“As a team, you do not just drop out to P10 if you do not have any weak points.
“We have worked very hard, but it will be a long journey.
“Paddy [Lowe] worked very hard to put the right people in the right places and I am convinced that we have the right tools to walk the right path again.
“However, we only know in Melbourne where we really are.”
